June 23 (Reuters) - The chief executive of social media platform X, Linda Yaccarino, has shaken up her inner circle in the face of pressure from owner Elon Musk to boost sales and cut costs, the Financial Times said on Sunday. This month Yaccarino fired her right-hand man and head of business operations and communications, Joe Benarroch, the newspaper said, citing three people familiar with the matter. X did not immediately respond to Reuters request for comment on the report. Before joining X, then known as Twitter, in June 2023, Benarroch worked at Comcast's (CMCSA.O) New Tab, opens new tab NBCUniversal, where he oversaw communication strategy for its advertising and partnerships division, reporting to Yaccarino, who was advertising chief there. X's head of global government affairs, Nick Pickles will take over Benarroch's responsibilities, with an expanded role including directing all global communications, the FT said. The reshuffle stems from growing tensions between Musk and Yaccarino, as she struggles to steady X's financial health, according to the report. Steve Davis, a longstanding Musk ally and chief executive of his Boring Company, was brought in by the billionaire in April to review X’s finances and performance management, FT added. June 21 (Reuters) - A group of hackers claiming responsibility for a cyberattack on CDK's software systems has demanded millions of dollars in ransom to put an end to the hack, which affected auto dealers across the United States, Bloomberg News reported on Friday. The group behind the attack is believed to be based in eastern Europe, according to the report New Tab, opens new tab, which cited people familiar with the matter. The auto retail technology and software provider planned to pay the ransom, Bloomberg News reported. CDK has said it experienced a cyber incident on Wednesday. Although it did not directly comment on the Bloomberg report, the company in an emailed statement on Saturday said it launched an investigation by experts, notified law enforcement and has begun the restoration process. CDK said restoration will take several days. "...In the interim we are continuing to actively engage with our customers and provide them with alternate ways to conduct business," CDK said in the statement. U.S. auto retailers Sonic Automotive (SAH.N) New Tab, opens new tab and Penske Automotive (PAG.N) New Tab, opens new tab flagged a hit to their operations on Friday, as CDK experienced a third consecutive day of outage. In an emailed statement, Ford said that there was an industrywide system outage for dealers who use CDK. "However, many Ford and Lincoln customers are able to receive sales and service support due to alternative processes available to our dealers," Ford said. Sonic said its dealerships were open and it was working to minimize the disruption. The company said it was unable to determine if the outage would affect its financial condition, but that it did have a "negative impact" on its operations. Penske said its Premier Truck Group business, which sells new and used commercial trucks, also uses CDK's disrupted dealer management system. "Premier Truck Group has implemented its business continuity response plans and continues to operate at all locations through manual or alternate processes," Penske said. The commercial truck dealership business has lower unit volumes than Penske's automotive dealership business, which does not rely on CDK's software. Separately, Kia America told Reuters it was working with affected dealers to reduce the impact of the outage and continue towards "business as usual". CDK on its website says it works with more than 15,000 retail locations across North America. June 22 (Reuters) - Alberta's opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) has chosen former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi as its new leader, party officials announced on Saturday. He will lead the NDP against Premier Danielle Smith's conservative government in Canada's main oil-producing province. Nenshi became the first Muslim mayor of a major North American city when he was elected in 2010 and governed Canada's corporate oil capital until he stepped down in 2021. During that time he was widely praised for his handling of the 2013 floods that devastated parts of Calgary, but also drew accusations of arrogance from some critics over the years. Nenshi won the first ballot of the NDP leadership race with an overwhelming 86% of the vote, and said he was looking forward to the next provincial election in 2027. "The excitement and optimism I've felt throughout this leadership race proves that Albertans want a government they can trust and believe in," Nenshi said in a statement. The NDP said the 62,700 votes cast for Nenshi were the largest number of votes ever received by a provincial leadership candidate in Canadian history. ZURICH, June 22 (Reuters) - Emergency services with helicopters, drones and rescue dogs searched on Saturday for three people who were missing after violent downpours caused floods and landslides in southwestern Switzerland. MeteoSchweiz, the government's office for weather and climate, said 124 mm (4.88 inches) of rain fell in Mesolcina valley in the canton of Grisons on Friday, with 63 mm (2.48 inches) falling in a one-hour period. "It was not the level of rain, but the concentration of rain in such a short period of time which caused the problems," a spokesman for MeteoSchweiz said. "This concentration of rain happens only once every 30 years." Several rivers burst their banks in Mesolcina valley, also known as Misox, covering roads, fields and villages with rubble, earth and wood. Three houses and three cars were swept away by water in the village of Sorte, Grisons police said. Two police officers were able to escape from their vehicle which was submerged up to its roof. Four people were initially reported missing, although a woman was later found under rubble and taken to hospital in nearby Lugano. A search was still underway for three other people who police said could have been in their homes when the flooding took place. Police urged people not to travel to the region as many roads were closed. Five villages were without electricity. In the western canton of Valais, 230 people were evacuated since Friday after heavy rainfall caused flooding and mudslides. The road and railway line to the town of Zermatt, next to the Matterhorn mountain, was also closed, although police said they hoped to reopen the routes on Saturday evening.
