LONDON, Jan 15 (Reuters) - The pound dipped slightly against the dollar after data that showed British inflation unexpectedly slowed to an annual rate of 2.5% in December and 0.3% month on month.

The pound was last down 0.24% on the dollar at $1.2187. It was at $1.220 immediately before the data.

It held steady on the euro at 84.45 pence.

Core CPI which excludes volatile items such as energy and food, also came in below expectations at 3.2%.
