HOUSTON, Feb 1 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday ordered tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports to address a national emergency over fentanyl and illegal immigrants entering the U.S., White House officials said.
Under the plan, Mexican energy imports will be charged 25% tariffs, while energy products from Canada will have a discounted 10% duty.
Canada and Mexico are the top sources of U.S. crude imports, together accounting for around one-quarter of the oil U.S. refiners process into fuels such as gasoline and heating oil, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
