July 29 (Reuters) - Norfolk Southern (NSC.N) , opens new tab reported a rise in its second-quarter profit on Tuesday, aided by higher revenue from improved volumes.

The East Coast railroad operator's quarterly adjusted profit rose to $3.29 per share, from $3.06 per share a year earlier.
