India's Titan posts higher first-quarter profit on steady jewelry demand

Aug 7 (Reuters) - Indian jeweller and watchmaker Titan (TITN.NS) , opens new tab reported a rise in first-quarter profit on Thursday, as consumers continued to buy gold jewellery, albeit low-carat, lightweight designs due to high bullion prices.
Titan, home to Tanishq and CaratLane brands, posted a profit of 10.91 billion rupees ($124.65 million) for the quarter ended June 30, compared with 7.15 billion rupees a year earlier.
