Aug 25 (Reuters) - Australian oil and gas producer Santos (STO.AX) , opens new tab said on Monday it has agreed to an extension of the exclusivity period for an $18.7 billion takeover bid from a group led by Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC) to September 19.

Last week, Santos had flagged the consortium, led by ADNOC's investment arm XRG, alongside Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ) and private equity firm Carlyle, would face a delay in finalising the offer for at least a month.
